Yoga with a Twist (and not just a spinal one)

Let’s get the obvious stuff out of the way: yoga is great for you. By doing yoga, you get the immediate sensation of being fully relaxed and energetic at the same time. It is great for your health: your body becomes stronger and fitter and your internal organs, muscles and joints benefit deeply from the practice. It gives you a sense of calm and centredness that you then take out into your everyday life. It makes you feel (and yes, look) younger and will certainly give you a longer life. Doing a yoga holiday (or several yoga holidays, as some of our guests do), then, is going to do you a lot of good.

At The Hill, we give you something else too (this is the twist bit, in case you were wondering). Here at The Hill, the general idea is that you’re fab as you are. So, whatever you choose to practise, it is not about striving to become better, but about enjoying the experience. And this is also at the core of our yoga. Whatever level you are, whatever you can or can’t do, that’s you, fab as you are. When you approach yoga this way, it makes it easier to let go, open up and relax as well as deepen your asanas (postures), breathing or meditation. And you know what? When you forget to strive and just enjoy being yourself, you actually manage (without noticing) to finally put your foot behind your ear, get into that position that baffled you a minute before or lose those couple of extra pounds. This is why all the teachers of our yoga holidays, as well as being high-level yoga practitioners with huge experience, are chosen for who they are. They’re people who can themselves enjoy life, be present, open and let go. And it turns out that these people are always the ones we’d choose as friends. Maybe they’ll become your friends too.

Any yoga holiday at The Hill is designed for all levels. On our yoga holidays, as on other weeks, there is one session in the morning and one late-afternoon.
